【摘要】:Asphaltisamaterialusedintheconstructionofroadsandasaroofingmaterialandsealant.Thistestmethodprovidesameansofevaluatingexposuretoasphaltfumeintheworkingenvironmentatthepresentlyrecommendedexposureguidelines.5.2.1Thethresholdlimitvalue(TLV)forasphalt(petroleum)fumesis5mg/m38-hTWA,(1998ThresholdLimitValuesandBiologicalExposureIndices,ACGIH5).ThisprocedurehasbeenadaptedfromNIOSHMethod5023(withdrawnpriorto4thedition(1994)andreplacedin1998withNIOSHMethod5042)andOSHAMethod58toreducethelevelofbackgroundcontaminationprovidingbetterreproducibility.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofasphaltfumeparticulatematter(asbenzenesolublefraction)andtotalparticulatematterweightinworkplaceatmospheresusingapolytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)filtermethodology.1.2ThisprocedurehasbeenadaptedfromNIOSHMethod5023(withdrawnpriorto4thedition(1994)andreplacedin1998withNIOSHMethod5042)andOSHAMethod58toreducethelevelofbackgroundcontaminationprovidingbetterreproducibility.1.3Thisprocedureiscompatiblewithhighflowratepersonalsamplingequipment-0.5to2.0L/min.Itcanbeusedforpersonnelorareamonitoring.1.4Thesamplingmethoddevelopsatime-weightedaverage(TWA)sampleandcanbeusedtodetermineshort-termexposurelimit(STEL).1.5TheapplicableconcentrationrangefortheTWAsampleisfrom0.2to2.0mg/m3.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Formorespecificprecautionarystatements,seeSection.
